Which design style are you?

It is important to feel at home in your house. In order to make a house become a home, it needs to reflect you. The first step to this is knowing which design style you gravitate towards. Each style has its own unique characteristics, and everyone has different taste of what they like and want to see in their home. Here are some of today’s most popular home design styles and their key elements.

1. Boho

Boho: short for Bohemian. This is a carefree, relaxed aesthetic style with its focus centered around natural elements. With Boho Style we often see light wood, lots of greenery, and neutral colors like whites, cremes, and tans. Boho can look different in every house because it can vary patterns, textures, shapes, and colors to perfectly fit what you like.

2. Contemporary

Contemporary focuses on sharp, clean lines. It is a minimalistic style, with small amounts of extra décor or clutter. The point of contemporary is to look elegant and simple. Typically, the color palette focuses on neutrals like grey, black, and white while leaving room for the bold furniture that often pairs with this aesthetic. This is a good style for someone who enjoys coming home to decompress in a simple environment where there is not much to trigger your senses.

3. Coastal

The Costal design style holds a beachy feel, which is exactly why it is called costal. It references the elements of the sea through its characteristics. Blue, white, and tan are the most prominent colors seen. Blue is referencing the water, tan is referencing the sand, and white is used to enhance the light of the room. This style is most popular in the southern states with warmer weather, but it can be done anywhere. If you want a touch of the sea in your home, this is the style for you!

4. Traditional

Traditional design style is exactly what it sounds like, it is your tried and true, timeless and elegant home. It uses classic designs with a neutral color palate and a touch of décor to create a beautiful, homey, and delicate space. Other styles may come and go, but this is one that will always be popular. While simple elements of the aesthetic may evolve over time, the key pillars of this timeless style will remain.

5. Farmhouse

Farmhouse is a style that combines rustic charm with modern luxuries to create a cozy, welcoming environment. It has the rustic aesthetic through the natural wood, tons of natural light, and light colors that are used. A simple palette of browns, whites, tans, and gray tones is all it takes to create this beautiful style. An emphasis on furniture that has soft lines and is slightly distressed is what gives this style its signature rustic look.
