What is a mood board?
Are you looking to build a new home? Does building your new home sound overwhelming? Have you considered creating a “Mood Board”?
What exactly is a Mood Board?
According to Wikipedia: A mood board is a type of visual presentation or a collage consisting of images, text, and samples of objects in a composition. It can be based upon a set topic or can be any material chosen at random.
So how can you create an exterior home Mood Board when building a new house?
Do some research
Gather ideas from websites like Pinterest or Houzz. Look for home designs that match your style. Maybe you want a garage door with windows or a covered front porch. Search home design websites, blogs, photographs. Find images that inspire you. Also, be sure to check out Jerry’s Homes Instagram Page for home design mood boards too. 🙂
Choose a color scheme
If you love the color Navy and want that to be your main color element, go for it! Maybe you want a more farmhouse feel to the exterior of your home? Consider a black and white color scheme. Don’t forget about stone elements when it comes to color. Most homes these days require a percentage of your home to be finished with stone on the front so stone selection is important. Making a Mood Board
Now the fun starts! Use programs such as Canva.com or Photoshop to create the mood board. Upload the images to the program of your choice and place the elements in any manner you choose. For presentation purposes, keep the images clean and spaced out. But if you have a lot of images to display, overlapping works too. Think about other exterior accessories such as outdoor lights, front door options, garage door style, roof color, window shape and siding texture. The possibilities are endless!
Once you have completed your mood board for the exterior of your home, start one for the interior. Include features such as carpet color, wood flooring, tile, cabinet styles, countertops, backsplash and wall color. See below for some inspiration and get started on your Home Mood Board today!
